Old Things and Old Feelings

Old Things and Old Feelings

A Poem by stargirl23

on the radio today, they played an old song

it wasn’t good"but I sang along

the year I first heard it was when I would go

lay in mulch, sand, dirt, or snow

our photograph, taken under a twisting tree

right after that argument you left me

the smile drawn on your face drew a smile on mine

as my hand grasped for another bottle of wine

Yes I can understand how music can cause us to think back to old memories, sometimes it can be very bittersweet because they are good memories, but those times are no longer there. Good job with writing the emotion.

^^ You're welcome!
Music has a way of tuning us into memories, both wanted and unwanted, in a way that few things can. The foggily recalled tunes of where we were and with who never cease to amaze with the forgotten records of the mind being slowly replayed, surprising us with how soon we forget the memories it captures.
Great job.
