Red Flower

Red Flower

A Poem by stargirl23

the red flower that danced in you and rested with you,

the corsage for your eternal prom,

danced in my longing eyes straight into my mind

it dances on my hand and in me as I dance in haste

away from you

you don’t realize your luck of being saved

from having to complete the last dance with her

well, my man, we would twirl and fall

into more dances, now in the psychedelic motion

of night clubs

today I stepped out of class to get you ready

I got you a maroon suit to match her dress"

the color I wore the day your hand brushed mine"

red flowers burned my cheeks when you never thanked me

they were angry flowers

lost in the dancing, twirling motion and action were we

if only you had noticed that you had trod over me

when your burning red flower drove you to ask for her hand

as my burning red flower screamed in hurt, as I blanked,

and was taken over

I took your red flower when you were defenseless, I must admit

I just wanted to dance, exchange red flowers, fall…
