an addiction

A Poem by Adi Voss

addiction is a hook you put down your throat to pull out the emptiness inside you. which leaves you even emptier when you become sober.
but for a moment your hollowness is replaced with a drug that fills you and makes you feel a world that is desirable and sensible. you become aware of how you should feel when you're not strung out.
experiencing a high that people filled with jubilance feel regularly is something that a destroyed person searches for. the rush of seeing a lighthouse in the distance while in the stirring darkness is so comforting.
but when you pull the hook back up your throat and your emptiness is laying on the ground, the only thing you can do is stare and mourn at the details of what used to be within you. then you realize it slowly crawls back inside of you and brings along the ugliness of the world behind it so it can claw at your brain and imbed the most dreadful thoughts that never disappear

evident despair, but is the no caps intentional? It makes it look a little unprofessional, considering the many sentence fragments. It seems more of a story format with errs rather than a poem

the despair is very evident and can be felt through your words.. the longing for the fix of feelings was good!

The one word that strikes to my head first after reading this write's - "Love". Yeah, the love's itself an addiction of emptiness that longs to make those spaces fill with desires. Nice imagery. Liked the plot!
