only an electrical current

the idea of what I think you are

likewise 

you do not see me

only a thought

a vague ideation 

two perceptual ghosts

sleeping next to each

one’s skin exposed 

caress but not the skin

just another current, another perception 

processed like a bureaucratic report

as

two electual currents

fizzle in that soft bed

The spark ignites and a new relationship starts. We have no idea who that person is at the beginning, more often than not. That comes later and our perceptions at the onset may go astray. They may turn out to be totally incompatible. Sexual attraction, doesn't mean happy endings. I did leave an earlier response, but came back for a second read and saw a different slant on this piece.

when two ideas meet, that is what they remain, two ideas.
Concepts...that may be why we so often get into relationships and then try to change each other to what we expected.
If only we would let be to be.

A very interesting truth discussed here. Often, we don't relate to a person, only to our perceptions of that person. And who knows the origins of those perceptions? Our own experiences, prejudices, fears, etc. Is it any wonder the divorce rate is so high?

This poem felt almost melancholic in its presentation. I felt as if it were describing a long complacent slowly eroding and losing its spark. Growing overly comforted with one another. What tends to happen as time goes on. Thank you for sharing your art.
