Staggering Monologue

Staggering Monologue

A Poem by Aelora

this paper is my mouth

I still won’t listen

saying what I can’t put into sound

I don’t want to hear all your excuses

I know you see only bad in me

you are your father’s daughter

I always hated your father

I don’t think I’m as malignant

as you say I am

of course you wouldn’t think so

I just want my sister back

you can’t have her

please,

let me talk to her at least

you haven’t earned that right

you’re just like your father

I want to hear about her day

why do you care

I want to hear about her art

what do you care

please,

I just want to hear her voice again

no

please I’m begging you

I don’t owe you anything

I’m your daughter

you told me not to call

you called the police on me

I would do it again

and again and again

can I at least talk to my brother

he doesn’t want to talk to you

I don't believe you

no one needs you anymore

but

no one wants you anymore

wait

this is all your fault

you left her

you left him

you left me

mom please I’m begging you not to do this

goodbye

oh,

and don’t call

A...been there myself with family and wrote similarly a long time ago, and in much the same way, about it. I admire your courage and honesty in having posted this. All I can really say is thank you and hang in there. ...bobc
