A January Night

A January Night

A Poem by Afayah
"

For Z.F.

"

As bright as stars are
they have never been as bright
as they are tonight
We lie togther -
watching the universe
watch over us -
Indulging in the moment
the tranquility of silenece.

And the only sounds we hear
are those of ur heartbeats,
our sighs,
and the omnipresent wind.

I canonly think of you,
and how intense our souls are.
Without the slightest whisper of a word,
we both know how much love
there is passing between
our still bodies.

And, all we can think of
is how easy it is for us to find
similies for these feelings we feel-
in the cluster of stars,
the grains of sand,
the waves in the ocean....
as infinite as true love.

You speak to me with your eyes,
which is more than enough
to express all the thoughts
passing through your mind
at this very moment....
they are the same as mine.

Your messages are forever clear,
even without the structure of sentences
and the rigidty of words.
So I reply,
and now....
I'm kissing you.
