Questions

Questions

A Poem by Afayah
"

for mother

"

Sometimes I sit and think,

Talking to myself,

Questioning myself

Am I crazy?

When I hug the walls

And speak to the trees.

Asking myself

Am I crazy?

I see people when they

Aren’t really there.

Questioning them.

Am I crazy?

The voices come,

And I cry because

They scare me to death.

Not thinking whether or not

Mother is scared too

When she sees my eyes

Pop from my head,

My heartbeat is heard

From across the room,

I rip out bloody strands of hair.

She prays…

And soothes me to sleep.

She tells me it cannot

Get any worse.

But really, mother,

Am I crazy?
