My Last Autumn Leaf

My Last Autumn Leaf

A Poem by A Flickeroflight
"

A small love poem I had written one year to a girl I was dating for a steady amount of time. She is now my wife.

"

You Are

the last Autumn Leaf

that remains still on a withered maple

branch

The one I stop and gaze at with such

awe and wonder

As your organic structure glows with

expressed color that it even suppresses the

longest of sunsets

To include your bright oranges, deep

reds, and glazed yellows

You Are

my last Autumn leaf

Firmly held upon my thinnest maple branch

The one I knew would keep her stem tightly upon me

Keeping beauty contained within yourself as you

whisper words to me as the wind blows through you

As they hug just the end of my fingers

through all the seasons
