Burn It

Burn It

A Poem by I Hate Humans

I remember it perfectly.
Every line and every scene.
We were just kids looking for fun.
We didn't mean for it to wrong.
I had a lighter and you had some cigarettes.
We were young, it was so fun.
With your hand in mine.
We started to waste our time.
With a bottle of whiskey and a couple of blades.
We didn't understand we would go insane.
We took off on our bikes, and went away,
but we had forgotten our names.
It was the best day of our lives,
or at least it seemed that way for a while in our minds.
Then they came and shone their flashlights on our bikes,
and they could see the things in our mind.
They took us all away to a secret place, with bars and gates
and screaming girls and fits.
We all cried for the next couple of hours,
begging and screaming for them not to tell our mothers.
But I remember your face when you came to pick me up.
You look disgusted in me and you looked ashamed in your son.
We were only just kids looking for fun.
But I guess that we were maybe too young.
