I DIDN"T KNOW THAT

I DIDN"T KNOW THAT

A Poem by againme16
"

YOU TAPPED MY POTENTIAL, YOU GAVE ME POWER I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW I HAD.

"

I looked into her eyes,

But she closed her's,

I didn't know it was all just a web of lies,

I was just a failed connoisseur

I said I love you, she replied "me too",

I didn't know it was meant for someone else,

How could she? I didn't have a clue,

Instead of her, I started hating myself.

I couldn't define trust anymore,

Nor could I find my soul,

I didn't know I could have so much abhor,

She was no more the person whom I could extol.

My left rib's purpose was bygone,

Brain's sole reply was Harakiri,

I wanted to be the king, didn't know I was the pawn,

I was deprived of joy and was left with angst and eerie.

Insecurities became my hobby,

I couldn't even push myself to smirk,

I found myself passed out by the lobby

And it wasn't any narcotic, it was her work.

I didn't know I had so much power,

I didn't know I could bring cessation to life,

Now her cadaver lies in her bower,

I didn't know even I could connive.
