A Poem by Billy

i sit in the back row
and feel the long green fingers of abstinence
tickling my neck
i finger the chair weaved underneath me
and try to unravel it's mystery
but falling to the ground are only my secrets
like the folds of dream
and the incense is smothering my thoughts

i remain unable to convey to you these stirring feelings
they rattle beneath my skin
in some ancient rhythm i recognize, but cannot name
till i remember it is because the tune is yours

i am far from the soft, safe waters
i am dappled but i am dreary
and i will no longer pay forgiveness
for holding close and warm these memories
         i will go to you
if you accept me i will glow,
                 flower,
and peel this grimy light from our skeletons
if you do not then i will carry on
