A Crying Secret

A Crying Secret

A Poem by Angelica

So old readying to settle down,
So young just coming out into this world.
His rough fingers slowly caressing her soft crimson cheeks
Bring salty tears to her sweet innocent eyes.

Two different minds with no connection,
A young bride-to-be — a prize for an old widow.
A forced marriage with no turning back
Bring salty tears to her sweet innocent eyes.

Back to the ancient castle
Hollow eyes follow all movement.
Secrets lay in each and every corner
Whispers of the dead linger in the air.

Lying in the forbidden bed she replaces the old misses.
A bloody knife, bedraggled ropes, a grimy shovel;
A tormented body lays rotting in the dirt,
Whispers of the dead linger in the air.

Searching for answers to an unsolved mystery,
She walks the desolate hallways alone,
His ill voice echoing in the dark
Bring salty tears to her sweet innocent eyes.

Shock chokes her dainty neck,
Bloodshot eyes strain terror into virgin eyes.
A secret never meant to be freed; a knife plunges into a cold heart.
Salty tears shift to sweet whispers from his lips.
