Redemption

Redemption

A Poem by Emily Rose
"

It LOOKS like Redemption...

"

White snow mars my meadow,

there's an iron-grey sky.

They say it's Redemption -

I don't understand why.

The cold kills the blossoms,

the flakes wilt the blades,

they say it's a wonder

dressed in gossamer shades.

Trees crack from their burden,

grey swirls smother the light,

It looks like Redemption

Is just Death wearing white.

Forgive my dark mood. I'm not the biggest fan of winter.

Such a dark way to look at redemption but I think you're right on some levels. you can't always redeem yourself and rise again beautifully, the same for other people. Sometimes when people redeem themselves you feel like there's a scar they still cannot manage to hide. Maybe it really is something as horrid as Death dressed in beguiling white. I love the contrast here and the dark descriptions. Mostly, I think the irony in this piece is powerful. How you sarcastically show that the cold and destructive winter-like redemption is seen as a blessing and a wonder. Nice :)

i love how intense and heavy it is- it definetly fits with the theme of winter. the greyness of it all is what kills me as well
"grey swirls smother the light"
perfect.

Dear Emily Rose,

Wonderful. So you see past the deceit. It goes deeper. Meaning is self-made. Beauty is self-made.

An insightful, questioning poem.

Kindest regards,

Rick
