The Prodigal Older Brother

The Prodigal Older Brother

A Poem by Apollos
"

There are 2 parts to every story.

"
Eh yo Prodigal, where ya been Son?
Heard about the ransom and made sense why you took Dad’s handgun.
Saw right through your idealistic dreams and hope you survived your latest temper tantrum.
Hurt me to see you put your 2 cents on all things random.

Did the tattoos create an image you felt you were missing?
Was the alcohol all you felt you could draw from?
Do you get high because you feel low?
Does her beauty purify the ugliness you find in your soul?

You know Dad loves you, right?
He cries not for the sin against Him but from finding it in your system.
Your latest contradiction of identifying with a long lost victim.
Sacrificing all so you could be with Him.

I figured Him to be at His wit’s end.
Cursing Him under my breath as I dig another ditch...again.
Breaking my back to earn what has already been given.

But I could smell the Lamb burning from the kitchen...
With my head downcast I realize I’m the one who needs to be forgiven.
Yet I look my Father in the face to see what has been mine from the beginning.

interesting and creative here...the other son who felt the prodigal was favored...that he was taken for granted...
Jealousy runs fairly easily among siblings...and the tables turn...admission of needing forgiveness...
