Flickering Hope

Flickering Hope

A Poem by Amber Bein

The candle burns into the twilight

Warding out the midnight shadow’s deadly might

To the shadow, the candle’s light arduously burns

Never to flicker out, the fragile soul urns

Day becamith night as fast as night becamith day

Candle light barely able to keep the carcinogenic shadows at bay

The coruscating sway of the candle, so slow

Mirrors the advances and retreats of the shadows above and below

Chilling gusts suffocate the condensing flame

The shadows devouring the remain light with hate and blame

Silent screams vibrate through the now dark room

Eternally sealed in their desolate tomb
