Mirror, mirror

Mirror, mirror

A Poem by Cara

I am sorry I was not a better friend to you

That I called you mean names

Criticised you

Doubted you

Never gave you love or support

I tried my best

Sometimes I gave you encouragement

A glimmer of hope

A quiet “You can do this”

But the doubts they crept back in

It was not my fault you see

I have an excellent memory

A constant reminder of where you went wrong

Exact details of that day from many years ago

Ready to replay, any time, any day

I was only trying to help
