it is the plague of our time

it is the plague of our time

A Poem by albee
"

disclaimer: I plagiarize Shakespear

"
It is the plague of our times
when a madman leads the blind
through a micro biome storm
waves of dark energy
like a steaming asteroid
like a caldera burst
like the great Colombian exchange.
It was not the sword that decimated original peoples
on this continent
small-chicken-plagues' pox
the flu, and all those corona helices too
swept through an isolated naive immunity pool.
Now, it has found a new naïveté.

it is my howl to these times
a rant to my generation
a stark naked mad generation
too many children spoiled with too little adult supervision
an epidemic of character-logical disorders...our leader and his minion.

Your poem is highly original yet hitting the bullseye for our current times. Deadly clever twist. You capture the sense that I have of being baffled -- the way the followers are following this trajectory off a cliff. There's a sense of acceptance in your tone, as if we are powerless to counterbalance the pull of so much blind foolish ignorance, so let's just turn this into a social study. This is all that I feel on the days when outrage subsides (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Shakespeare’s Lear.
History may not repeat its self
But it rhymes (M.Twain)
Yes, it is Like "Howl" but a Cliffs Notes version...
just the necessary to get the effect as we are so affected now with this virus, and with other problems in this country...
it is a country of madness and madmen...
excellent write,
j.

I read Dryden. His world, no different than our world. In 1500, war, sickness and poor leadership. The world repeat over and over the same mistakes dear albee. I liked and I understood your words. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

Is this a rant?
Yes, I believe it is. Disease wipes out more people than war, yet so many would ignore ...
