My Flower, Don’t Drown

My Flower, Don’t Drown

A Poem by Alexandria Miller

The walls of my soul and heart and mind
Are like that of a poorly structured dam,
Standing only to hold in the gushing rapids
Of lust and love and raw infatuation.
Standing in fear of losing all that’s left.
You are like a small flower,
Blooming right before my eyes.
Your features so warm and inviting.
But I am no spring shower,
I am no morning mist or dew.
When the walls collapse,
I am a flood.
A tsunami of intense emotion.
My love is too raw.
I’m afraid, my flower,
You may get lost in those waves.
