State Change

State Change

A Poem by Mackenzie Wood

Light,

a saturnine sheen,

That luster after an amber day,

tarnishes, sharing

glaucous layers of twilight.

The flat night

comes upon us

like turquoise,

a scattering of stars

now penetrate the light rain,

diffusing deep mixtures:

a matrix of color.
