above and beyond

above and beyond

A Poem by Alis Quinn

overlooking those gentle ripples
that divide
separate
join and integrate
blackbirds sit and crow
in the branches of nearby trees
in the grass of fallen leaves
in the dust and debris
that circulates
all around me
Billowy softness
rushes across
casting shadows
that cross
over
everyday life
transpiring below
covered with a blanket
of many hued blues.
warm light
polishes
the greenery
to a sheen
that reflects
the depth
of its limited surroundings
caressing breezes
carries the crests of ripples
lifting them.....
higher still.

a bird
of undistinguishable
quality
interrupts the flow
of things
breaking the focus of transient
events
scattering offerings
of greater things
above and beyond
all that
circles below.
