The sweetness

The sweetness

A Poem by alisha

The sweetness of your soul
Becomes the poison that runs through my veins,
Banishing every linked memory
Of your eyes shining like stars
Which made me dream of a future
Now erased by the words that
Turned my body into shards of glass.

I want to get out of the cage you locked me in,
To be able to feel the sun's rays again
On cheeks that still feel your kisses
So fake and unreal,
With whom I was once in love.
Only the memories about you
Are the only ones I still cherish,
Because you've only become a stranger,
A person I no longer recognize and love.

I want to forget you,
To start a new chapter without thinking
to our past
To the lies you keep telling me.

Very hard to escape the cage dear Alisha.
"I want to forget you,
To start a new chapter without thinking
to our past
To the lies you keep telling me."
I do understand the above lines. If you can escape the cage, runaway and don't look back. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

You are welcome dear Alisha.
Because you've only become a stranger,
A person I no longer recognize and love.

These lines hit me with greater intensity than I could ever imagine. You are phenomenal when it comes to portraying broken hearts! Keep writing!
