However, if you feel that you have enough skills to writer your resume on your own, our job searching coach has prepared some advice for you.

What shouldn't be on your resume?

1. Deception

Ascribing additional knowledge and experience to yourself is unlikely to get a job. Maximum - you will be invited for an interview, but experienced HR in a personal conversation, asking additional questions, will immediately reveal the deception.

2. Pretentious style and bureaucracy

If you want to create a memorable resume, don't try to make your resume stand out with fancy font, format, or bright colors. A clearly structured resume that clearly demonstrates your accomplishments and benefits is much more attractive to an employer.

Avoid paperwork. Use business style only. But at the same time, choose lively expressions typical of business style.

3. Cliché

Cross out from your resume all phrases like “highly motivated specialist with good communication skills and focus on results” or “looking for a job in which I could show all my best qualities and skills”. Remember that an employer receives dozens or even hundreds of resumes a day. Your job is to stand out among them, and well-worn expressions are definitely not the best way.

4. Information about general skills

Using Word and Excel has long since ceased to be a special skill. Any person working in the office owns it. Such data will only burden your resume and distract from the really significant benefits.

5. Personal data

The employer is not interested in marital status, gender, or having children. Your task is to concisely show your advantages as a specialist, and not tell your life story.

And one more thing. Employers are alarmed when they see that the applicant has worked too little in a particular company (for example, less than six months). This causes them to suspect that the person did not pass the probationary period or he was fired. But sometimes a person is left without work for reasons beyond his control. For example, if you were affected by the retrenchment, then add about it in parentheses. Still, fired? Then add "dismissal by agreement of the parties."

Get professional resume help to avoid mistakes

Affordable at cost, or even cheap help is possible, and there is someone to hire instead of doing it on one`s own. An experienced writer is better whatsoever. Be smart, make smart decisions. To write is not that easy as it might seem to be. So, if you say help me with writing, editing, and/or proofreading, name it, you got it.

Crafting a professional and compelling resume is crucial for job seekers across industries. It's a reflection of your skills and experiences, essentially marketing yourself to potential employers. I even utilized an online resume service to enhance my application for a position in a leading software company Austin. The service streamlined my achievements, aligning them with the industry's expectations, and ensuring a polished representation of my skills in the competitive Austin software market.

"Alison is a professional resume writer and editor"
------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, right. First, HIS name isn't Allison. He lives in India and works for a spammer company. The picture is one he copied from the Internet, here: https://mediumfrancevoyance.fr/angela-cartomancienne-et-voyante-par-telephone. And even then, it was a stock photo that anyone can buy (but you can bet he stole it)

So, in this poorly written piece, he says, "Ascribing additional knowledge and experience to yourself is unlikely to get a job." And what does this schmuck do? He lies from start to finish.

What an a*****e.
