For Jacob

For Jacob

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

Praise for a fellow writer

"

There is always one.
You can reach across continents,
Dawdle in alleyways,
Find a misstep you took years ago,
Perchance a visit to a distant star,
Home just makes it all real,
That one,
That one who crosses similar harbors,
Juxtapose his intelligence with yours,
See you down that long hall of togetherness
Reminding you as you remind him
What a luxury the two of you have been.

Reading this, I feel like I am looking in a cafe window at two old friends, sipping the contentment of kindred spirits...
