The Mourning of JFK

The Mourning of JFK

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

President's funeral

"

The line of people reached epic proportions,
A soft muttering of weeping gathered around the souls,
They waited for one pass of the coffin
One fleeting pass that took a century to hold
Rotunda politics disallowed miracles
But it was said that the Lincoln's statue cried instead
We are all here in the greatest void of our lives,
Aside from the mass there was so much more
That would be left unsaid.
He's gone! God help us all!

I can't think of something more difficult to experience, maybe one or two other things. Sometimes I think life is unworthy of huge tragedy like this one and others. He doesn't deserve them. Thank you Sami as always I am grateful for your visits.

It played those horrible scenes in my mind and the sad fate he had. Definitely he set this nation on a vision and it was fulfilled after his death. This was a great tribute and one day you will be immortalized like him but in a different field. Excellent...:)....................

Your poem kept playing on my mind. The experience was so hard to get passed and when you came along with the 51 years ago poem it reset itself. I had to write something. I'm glad it did Jacob. Thanks for visiting!

and there were so many watching from their homes...and the tears fell there, just as well...
how could a president be assassinated? how could Camelot be gone...

it was and is still in our hearts, such a void.

you really moved me with this poem AL...but i am sure you knew that would happen.

Definitely so much more left unsaid, undone, and the world was never quite the same.
