Another Day

Another Day

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

death nears

"

Awake

Eyes teetering on opening

Streaks of light flickering

Eyes close

Blackness

Followed by a nothingness of mind,

Eyes open.

Death would not come that day.

i was told that my mom, in her final days, once or twice opened her eyes and looked around, then went back to sleep...finally she did that and didn't wake up again...i wonder if she was in a way, hoping...just so the pain would end.
