That First Night


While you were seeking the arc of morning
I sleepily counted my dreams of night with you
We encountered each other on a high noon rising
Our sleep covered with morning's dew
as our bed sheets burned with fires smoke
Wishes upon wishes felt the night's air of you
Hugs, more than a grasp of flesh, the tender
leanings of my souls merged with you.
