Toward the Infinite

Toward the Infinite

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

I am echo

"

Toward the Infinite

Dawn breaks out to sea
You rise the sleep of a million years
deepens the tide
They have slept through the ages with you
Early when the tongue gutted each sound
you could hear the beginning of voice
Ancestor upon ancestor following the toe line of evolution
You can hear them all yell
Their hollowed voices echoing through centuries
Your grin bears a resemblance to them
as you walk, you hear sounds, old sounds,
that were once precious to them.
Among them water, breeze, silence,
the babe rendering its cry to the ages.
It is, this morning, a beginning toward the infinite.

Thanks E,

I am critical of old sounds like a breeze, water trickling downstream, wind blowing through trees. I believe it gave man intuitive development.

Al

heavy thoughts expressed ..love the images and the unity of a sun rising out to sea ...waking ages and ages ..really like this bit:
"as you walk, you hear sounds, old sounds,
that were once precious to them.
Among them water, breeze, silence, "

the personifications take me by surprise but do fit the whole ... seems a bit of menace as well .. lines 5 and 10 ..but of course that might just be me ... the closing holds hope ..as an optimist i like that a lot :)
