For a Few Dollars More

For a Few Dollars More

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

blood $$ for disability. Thank you taxpayer!

"

For a Few Dollars More

Heart disease, diabetes,
Low sperm count,
Anemia, engorged veins,
Some of the illnesses dioxin gives you
As you rage pass middle age

For a few dollars more
You can have your fantasy of all day free
drinking bourbon, walk the dogs, take pics of beauty,
write poetry of love and freedom
All from heart's tears of the soul

Make a trio of illusions
Give it a name of a sight to see
Return to the sadness of Vietnam in thee
Strike the cord of insight with words from me
Say a prayer for those all dead as far as memory sees.

Thanks Bacchus!

It could have been much worse. Some of my friends are dead. They were much closer to agent orange.

Al

My sixth year of retirement comes September 12th. Like a locomotive at full throttle except the caboose slightly damaged.

Thanks Pryde!

Yeah ... that is a tough one. But the mind is stronger than the body. Take it on trip to that second stanza. Poignant write, Al:)

a little lighter beginning that almost made me chuckle
while i quietly remembered my drs apt coming up...
the it turns like i should have seen it coming,
but didn't... like it's always there- war.

wow, good feelings conveyed here- the last part is stunningly sad.
going to read this one over a few more times.
