You, Me and We

You, Me and We

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

Attention hut!

"

You, Me and We

A mailbag of maelstrom
Letters compiling the verbs to be
Some are for profit
Some plead for charity
Some shock the eyes
as the big bad military
comes to take you away

You sit down with you
ask him to stay
perhaps salute the me that I'm giving away
We stand at attention
mumble our pledge to mankind
I'll kill for love ones and make a few dimes
I'm drafted like history
The pattern a rhyme
It's live free or die as we march off for the big crime.

The biggest sham of all these days. We have consciously ... for the most part ... moved beyond war but there is a industry that still begs supporting. But we will get there ... if us poet types have anything to say about it. A big cyber hug, Al:)

Thanks Jacob!

The military related themes must live in my craw. They jump out right on to the page.

Al

oh this tells it like it is....and Viet Nam...the money machine and all those souls sent there, came back with such change---
so many friends...different....the cost...

this is one of your best, Al...i can't understand why there are not more reviews...
