Fatigue's Friendship

2 1/2 hours of paddling a kayak meant two full days of fatigue.

Fatigue's Friendship

There is a heaviness in my eyes
causing a drift into darkness.
Comfort rounds itself traveling
the circumference of my eyelid
I feel the spirit of fatigue loving me
coaxing the body to stay a while.
Perhaps tea is in order or say why not
a spot or two of bourbon?
We gather round each other like old friends
drift off to sleep as the day comes to meet
my tired fatigued end.

This has a quiet feel to it. Somehow not a bad fatigue, but one worth falling into.

sometimes we do just want to drift into nothingness...life can be complicated and harsh, full of ups and downs---sometimes we just get so tired we want to throw all of it away...and fly to the surface---and stay there.
