Twist and Sweat

Twist and Sweat

A Poem by Allison

Visions and daydreams of places

Which don’t exist, or maybe they

Do, but I can’t touch them. They’re

Far, far away " castles, dark and

Empty; deserts with an oasis just

Out of reach; a busy street where the

Pavement sends up a hot, rancid

Breath " exhaust and garbage and

Sweat.

At this little desk, I speculate.

I imagine.

I analyze and ponder.

I sweat.

Something is coming together.

Five thousand words of this

Adventure have emerged.

She loves him and he thinks he

Loves her. They’re together

When they’re apart.

But no, it’s not working.

I’ve seen this before. I need a

Twist.

The only way to fix it is to

Rip it to shreds.

Start again.

C’mon, twist.
