I Never Told You

I Never Told You

A Poem by c.

There are no words, just silence.

Thoughts race through my mind

But the words are drowned by the pain,

The pain of what I never told you.

The room grows dark,

Darker than a moonless night

You were the light, but you’re not here

I am caught living my biggest fear

The buzz of nicotine temporarily relieves the pain,

You took your shots while I catered to your every need,

Now I take the shots just to fall asleep.

The pain lingers on, I never told you.

I never got to say goodbye,

You just let me go

I could have fought for you but there were no words that fit how I felt

I live with the regret of the things I never told you.
