Through New Eyes

Through New Eyes

A Poem by Spirit
"

This poem is about a change for the better. It's about someone or something that impacted your life so much that now you see and feel like you never have before.

"

The sun is shining like it has before,

But I’ve never seen it like this.

Through unchanged eyes I gaze out onto a world that is new.

It’s as though for the first time, I see it.

I see the beauty.

The sheer beauty of this planet that is so simple yet so complex…

How have I missed it?

How much time have I wasted peering through blindness?

Too much, that is certain.

And not only do I see, I feel.

I feel the grass beneath my toes comforting me from the hard earth below.

I feel the breeze caress my skin and carry my petty worries away with its leaving.

I feel alive.

Alive!

And I want to feel everything… For time is fleeting.

I want to feel this happiness… I want to feel pain…

I want to feel everything because in a split second I could feel no more.

And I want to know that if I were to die,

To leave this Earth, to leave this world,

That I would know.

I would know the pure beauty, that I would feel all the raw emotions,

That I didn’t die blind.

And a lot of people do.

But I refuse to be one of them.

I will depart knowing the brilliant confusion of being alive,

And I will cherish everything.

Thanks to you.
