A SHORT LIFE IN THE LIFE OF A CANDLE

A SHORT LIFE IN THE LIFE OF A CANDLE

A Poem by andrew mitchell

The life of a candle
Burning so bright
Giving aid to those
From that wick of light.
Dancing  so gently
Its softness swirls
To currents of air
Its fragility exposed.
Playing with darkness
Flickering in the night
In a void of darkness
A small taper of light.
For that wick of a candle
Can burn so bright
With periods of dormancy
Prolonging its life.
Later extinguished
Snuffed out in the night
The wick of a candle
Fragile in its fight.

"A SHORT LIFE IN LIFE OF A CANDLE"
Andrew Mitchell,
The sweet warmth of energy freely given. Not to be taken for granted. We are like that. Our hearts are tenuous. We burn with hope, desire to give and receive but we also just get tired, just like this story of the candle.
This is the line for me:
"for the wick of a candle
can burn so bright
with periods of dormancy
prolonging its life.
Later extinguished
snuffed out in the night
the wick of a candle
fragile in its fight."
Boy this poem really gives familiarity with the state of the human condition and heart; even soul!
Blessings,
Kathy

Again the master of simplicity works his magic and crafts a work of literary art. The workings of your mind are a pleasure to read, they always shine a different light of understanding that lingers in your readers mind long after devouring your work. The more of your work I binge read the bigger fan I become :~)
