A NIGHT GLIMPSE

A NIGHT GLIMPSE

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Outside the window, a clear dark night,
I see little jewels shining bright.
Small whitish dots against blackened sky,
Motionless, poised while time slips by.
But where's the cow jumping over the moon
Or the cat with fiddle playing tunes?
And while these thoughts plague my conscience;
Cats, fiddles, cows --- just all nonsense!
Who paints this night black and white?
As now my thoughts are taking flight.
For how they seem to watch over me
All these sparkling eyes that I see,
And as I drift.....drift back to sleep,
They will paint my dreams---- all mine to keep.

Tight rhyming here Andrew - rhyming is rare these days on WC so this is a treat - thanks Lavender for bringing me here. Theres wit and wisdom and I like the thoughts of the thoughts not only entertaining via dreams but also looking over the speaker like a guardian angel. Inventive.

I find this one cute, especially the part where you incorporated a famous nursery rhyme. Great job on the flow, I noticed that all the elements agree with each other. Nice! Let me share this to my friends here in WC. :-)

"But where's the cow jumping over the moon
Or the cat with fiddle playing tunes?"

Reminds me of things I puzzled over in my childhood. Great job. :)
