I SAW AGE

I SAW AGE

A Poem by andrew mitchell

I saw old people the other day;
How their bodies looked tired, old and grey.
They were young once as I am today
Almost Like I lived their yesterdays.
Now a living mass of wrinkles and folds,
And just the thought made my blood run cold
To think, one day I will be that old.
So If yesterday's young and tomorrow's old,
If I live today will my age be placed on hold?

it happens to all of us...and it can be hard to imagine...

when i look at really old people or even people my age...i often imagine them in their prime..

like looking at a really old building that is just sitting their unused...and i imagine it with the bustle of people when it was in the height of its use.

i really like this piece.

the title drew me in...
