The somnambulist lover.

The somnambulist lover.

A Poem by andrew mitchell
"

a bit of nightmarish fun!

"
Beyond the bright lights
of innocent pleasures
lies another dimension, the macabre.

Who will be her bridegroom tonight?

As the night lover of darkness
descends from a time
that is no more.

Where the entry into the dream is free,
but the exit from the nightmare is barred.

Welcome!

Trapped in a world
of  constant wandering,
the somnambulist lover
awaits you.

Andrew Mitchell,
"The somnambulist lover"
Well, since you have given a place of fun spookiness with this poem, lets just walk right in.
Kind of hard to see as it is so dark; hee, hee,...
Your words now;
"Beyond the bright lights of innocent pleasure lies another dimension, the macabre. Who will be her bridegroom tonight?"
You set the scene very well.
Everything is present in this poem for a horror movie or story. "Where the entry into the dream is free but the exit from the nightmare is barred."
This was a fun poem that didn't leave a bad feeling but a smile! I have yet to meet this somnambulist lover but I have read about him.
Great poem sir!
Bless you.

thank you for a great review kathy.
I think this would read better if nightmare and dream are exchanged (stanza 4) and I think the ending - the use of somnambulism detracts from the 'reveal' in the next line mate.
I like the roll up roll up! - theatre of blood - styling of this one.
