A tour of mind.

A tour of mind.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

A detour to the macabre
was no more
a tour of the mind;
a surreal journey
- a building of kind,
each room tenanted.

Through revolving doors one enters,
down the corridor,
second on the left.

Door one: emotions inside.
               Enter with care.
               The seven deadly sins.
next.

Door two: Physical manoeuvres.
                      Recommended settings.
                      Do not tamper!

While further on,
one turns right to-

door three: Common sense.
                 Keep out!
                 Don't touch.

Continuing on through
flickered lights-

Door four: Secrets.
               Unauthorised thoughts
                not permitted.

Followed by-

Door five: Madness.
              Do not disturb!
              Sleeping eternally,
              a nightly sentence.

Door six: Nightmares.
             Temporarily out of order.
              Closed for renovations.

Door seven: Desires.
                  Late night reading.
                  Adults only.

Finally at the end
of the corridor of thoughts-

Door eight: Housing the windows to my soul
                 seen through my eyes only.

Back to foyer. The open room of thoughts
                     The ink machine of writing!

A detour of the macabre,
a chamber of horrors.
The tour ends.
