Did treachery surround the legend born?

Did treachery surround the legend born?

A Poem by andrew mitchell

There was treachery
from not knowing,
it came as a surprise
as was the drink
from the chalice
that stood empty.
From the stone
that bore the legend,
Lady of the Lake
pierced the film of truth
holding the quest for answers
marked by the sword.
They searched, they found
the cup of mortality
in the dreams of ages,
their deaths sailed toward
the sunset born.

You took me back to the legend of King Arthur here Andrew, but I am sure that these lines can be read on several levels. Morte D'Arthur that's where I travelled to.
