Just six inches
of top soil
and rain
grows our
very existence.

Your six inch offering sure does conjure up a variety of possibilities! I am reminded how drought-prone California soil is SO DRY, we get several inches of rain, over & over, before moisture penetrates the surface. After a downpour, you kick away the top fraction of an inch & it's still dry-dry-dry for the first few rains every autumn/winter. Maybe I'm too cynical, but your poem feels too promising! There's probably just more drought, rather than a promising six inches *wink! wink!* (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Thank you Margie for your delightful words.
The richness of brevity blooms here, Andrew. Interesting to think, too, the "six inches" reference for growth, reflecting on "six feet" deep, where we bury our dead. Seems life is closer to the sun.

Thank you Robert and yes we are closer to the sun like all life.
And so much shifting sand in competition.

Beccy.

Thank you Beccy and yes there is a lot of sand!
so much said in such a small area of turf...and so much grown.
