Proud to be a Girl

Proud to be a Girl

A Poem by Ambereen
"

A poem on female foeticide this poem is based from an Indians point of view . Some words like rakhee and karva chauth are new to ppl not aware of Indian culture .

"

“Kill her or bear the repercussion”; they said,
“No! She is mine I will not give in to the threat.”
A crime that is on the rise,
With Thousands of female foeticide having already paid the price.
The girl may not be able to light your funeral pyre,
But she is your support when you’re old and tired.
She may not be able to carry forward your legacy,
But as a sister has she forgotten to tie you a Rakhee?
As wife she observes the Karva Chauth,
Praying for your long life, well being and growth.
A mother ,A daughter , A sister and A wife,
To live with dignity is her Fundamental right.
So respect, educate and love her profound,
Don’t leave her to the mercy of an ultrasound.
SAVE THE GIRL CHILD

I liked it very much and it has a cultural background as well thus adding weight. A sign of strong feminism as well. I like the final idea > SAVE THE GIRL CHILD

Having visited India, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Nepal, I know of what you speak. The atrocities against newborn females continues and is one of the evidences of our most savage heritage. I stand with you in your message and applaud your words with all my heart. A writing of excellence needing to be read.
