Slowly

Slowly

A Poem by ambur

I started slowly drinking, and not intentionally,
But it numbs the pain just enough to where
I can bear its weight. It’s almost enough to
feel a subtle relief from this god forsaken
Existence…the temporary release is all
I have to look forward to, now, and
My eyes are red with tears; my heart,
it bleeds; these thoughts suffocate; and
My soul hurts, but there isn’t anything
I can do but say the most meaningful
“Goodnight” my lips will ever speak.

I don't pretend to know your pain, I pray it isn't or wasn't yours, you have a strong, powerful style that I dig, great poetry
