Mother's Eyes

Mother's Eyes

A Poem by Ameerah Brown
"

its about my mother's eyes

"

Poetry hides

in my mother’s eyes,

disguised behind her smile.

Emotions not expressed

Poetry hides

in those dark brown eyes

like chocolate hiding from a chubby kid,

hiding her deepest fears and unknown secrets.

What lies behind those eyes

we’ll never know.

Poetry hides

like a small child playing hide and seek.

I wish I had the key

to unlock the door in her gaze,

but I lost it.

Poetry hides.
