I am

I am

A Poem by Alli

Yes child,
The good times will pass
but do not let this bring you down
because so too will the bad.
Remember:
The sun always rises & falls
The moon always brings lightness to dark;
I have moonlight within me,
illuminating my depths, guiding me
in the direction of my soul
(Note to self: it is okay to change direction.)
Life is a constant metamorphosis,
an everlasting becoming
& I have learned
becoming is not always graceful,
but like bones,
I am stronger where I have broken,
& just because I've been broken
doesn't mean I am.

I am acres of sunflowers
always growing towards the light.
I am the trees
always grounded in the earth.
I am not what others call me,
I am what I believe.

And I have come to believe
worrying about the future
only interrupts the beauty of this moment,
& perhaps it is not so much about waiting for the stars to align
as it is creating our own constellations.
