YOU

YOU

A Poem by Shweta Sunil

You died at dawn,
when you woke.
with tears of decision--
impending decision.
to stay or not to stay,
to live or not to live,
when you thought you could tide through it,
you killed the soul that lay within,
that was crying out, for a miracle,
that would make you the person
who was once laughing at her flaws,
the person that you were yesterday.
