Afraid

Afraid

A Poem by Nichole Cosgrove

Afraid of being hurt again

Afraid of being alone

Afraid to take the risk, the chance

But more afraid

Of what could happen if I dont take the risk

The chance

The fall

The step off an endless cliff

To feel the adrenaline rush

The exhileration

The fear

Afraid of not being caught

And held gently

But more afraid

Of not knowing where my life will go

If I dont take that endless step

A life filled with endless "What if's"

If you dont take the first step

The first jump

Or even that possible last fall

An endless "What if"

But you should be afraid

For that is your greatest strength

Being afraid
