The Strength of a Broken Heart

 

I can look at a bleeding heart, and turn my face away
To the face of a crying child, there’s nothing that I want to say

I’m blind to the emotions that used to disturb me before
Physical discomfort no longer feels half as sore

Not even does the fear of death scare me
But conquering all this pain hasn’t come for free

My feelings have turned numb since we parted ways
Since then my palette has only known dull grays

The death of togetherness I have always to mourn
But a broken heart is the best pain killer I have known


Separating from you was my worst nightmare

Now that it has come true, everything else hurts less.

A broken heart not only symbolizes pain and sorrow, it also symbolizes strength to carry on with this life, to carry on with a heart even without its beat!

I often wonder why does it hurt so much when we lost our love, may be because we loved them so much that we forgot to keep a little love for ourselves T-T

This is real. I love it. You speak so much truth. I understand it and I know that pain. When your heart is broken, it's the worse pain ever. To this day, I would have gladly taken broken legs over the way my heart felt when {He} broke it. I would have taken it. I would have laid down and let someone just break my legs. That's how bad a broken heart hurts. It hurts so bad, that you dont feel anything else and all the other pains in life seem so minor. It truly is the best pain killer, and yet is the result OF pain. It is pain, and the worst pain, yet it hides you from all other pain. Twisted, but true. You captured this factual idea so thoroughly. I love it.

This is a look at a break up from a very different angle and the way you have expressed it is quite good.. I think when one experiences the loss of a loved one in a relationship or by death..the next one is easier as you know how long the pain will last and you also know forever gone ..means just that!!! What a powerful write all encompassing in its message of loss and pain leaving the reader drained but the last line so true "everything else hurts less." This is profound, this gives us hope that though wretched with pain we still have that glimmer to go on.

I have watched you progress as a writer, I found this to be one of your finest. Why? It is raw it has symmetry, it grabs the reader and it is a subject we all can relate to. Bravo!
