Life Will Ever Change

A short poem I wrote about life. I try to be kind to others, even when the favor is not returned. No matter how much it may hurt, I'll never be able to not be kind to others!

Life will ever change
My eyes always open
Just like my heart

I live in this world
Though it is not my choice
I will always play this part

A man of value
Not a man of worth
Living not for myself

But living for all
Even if it's not wanted
I will never be put on the shelf

Many say kindness is dead
Even if I am one of them
I refuse to let mine leave

Helping others is what I do
My heart will never allow otherwise
Or else I will leave this world bereaved

Unfulfilled and empty
So many walk around
The life in their eyes are gone

Yet one thing still remains
In the hearts of those who are "lost"
And that's hope for the sun

That will one day come back
Shedding light on compassion
Which is so rarely shown

My philosophy in life
E Pluribus Unum
Out of many, one

Remains the cornerstone of hope
That drives me to never give in
To the darkness that drives us

Waiting in line for our day to come
When someone will save us
From this cramped and sad bus

Leading us towards our deaths
Spending so much time
Wondering what we are

When it's so easy for me to see
We shouldn't dwell on such things
And start looking towards the stars

For there is always light in the dark
Shining even if we can't see it
We just have to look

And that is why this life I'll live
Living for others rather than myself
Even when they burn the pages of this open book.
