Winter

Winter

A Poem by Amy Cowan

Next to the window I sit
Watching the frosty wind moan
I wish, oh wish that snow may fall

I sit beside my window day after day
Each day I have but one wish
That this year it may snow.

I sit beside the window watching the raindrops fall
I watch them drip upon the ledge
until I see some whitness fall

I get up from the window and run round to my door
Instead of rain, which I see no more
there is snow falling really slow.

As I stand outside my door
I wonder how it may be
Did all my wishing help me
To bring snow to my community.

I love winter. When it comes I get the warm and cozy feeling of home. Contradicting right? Yet, I mean the chimney lit inside, family and friends huddled close, and the cool breath of fresh air outside the door. It's such a magical time, winter. The land looks beautiful covered in snow and decorated for holidays. It's the best time of the year as well as the happiest time, usually. I love it and I love this poem. Good job on it; let it snow.

:) Thanks for the reviews
Very appropriate for the oncoming winter. It brings the magic and beauty of the holidays back into the picture and causes readers to focus less on the freezing cold and slush that they annually dread. Nice job.
