Elephant Puzzles

A Poem by anais.vionet
"

Thoughts on complicated love

"

There's a joke about five blind men asked to evaluate an elephant.. each grabs a separate area and thinks it's a tree (leg), a snake (trunk) a bird (ear) .. SEX-LOVE-Relationship.. what an ELEPHANT!

I am by nature curious AND cautious - a gamblers instinct and a bankers trust!

Of course, I have no opportunities NOW.. in this lock-up, shelter-in-place, prison-like existence - but even before, a kiss is like a dinner with something rare being served..

In my mind there are two of me:
one like Botticelli's Venus, sea-anemone hand protecting her assets.. the other, fueled by deeper desires, winking ALL too willingly at imagined opportunity like a skirt in a fun-house.

There have always been more reservations than temptations in my life. In reality, I am single-minded in my pursuit of what I want. I am blessed with a sheltered life, I am the luckiest of people..

At times, as I slave away at my Steinway sweatshop spindle I dream of chucking it all, of desire and exhausting myself on its narrow aims.. but my reality is altogether boring.
